Bourton-on-the-Water: Village left without coach parking
The Bourton-on-the-Water Parish Council has expressed its regret over the current absence of designated coach parking within the village. In an official statement, the Council highlighted the extensive efforts invested in discussions with various entities, including Cotswold District Council, Gloucestershire Highways, the police, and local businesses. Despite these efforts, a mutually agreeable solution that addresses the interests of residents, businesses, and visitors remains elusive.
The Council has dedicated considerable time and resources to engage in dialogues with key stakeholders, seeking to find common ground in resolving the parking issue. However, as the Council lacks direct influence over these organizations, its role is limited to urging them to carefully consider and, if necessary, reconsider their positions. The primary aim is to encourage a collaborative effort among the concerned parties to arrive at a resolution that benefits all stakeholders in Bourton-on-the-Water.
In a collaborative statement issued by Councillor Tony Dale (cabinet member for the economy and transformation), Cllr Mike Evemy (cabinet member for finance), and Robert Weaver (chief executive), the district council conveyed their diligent efforts over the past two years to address the issue of coach parking in Bourton-on-the-Water. This predicament arose following the decision of the private car park owner to discontinue coach parking services in the village.
Regrettably, despite exhaustive endeavors, a viable solution has remained elusive. The district council assured that every avenue has been explored, leaving no stone unturned in their quest for resolution. They expressed their commitment to ongoing collaboration with the county council, police, local businesses, and the parish council to collectively manage coach visits to the village.
